    Mikula’s J-Rock「ハイファイ新書」

    Adrian Mikula Dec 2024

As we nearly approach the end of the year, Soutaiseiriron’s Hi-Fi Shinsho is an album that encapsulates and tackles the themes of the future in a playful manner. Soutaiseiriron is a Tokyo band known for their usage of blending rhythmic and catchy motifs for the instrumentals, while using that foundation to strengthen the vocals which is often described as wordplay on Japanese pop culture and ideas. Each song on the album has its own themes, examples focusing on ghosts, future love, office night work, and other various ideas that are blended into a fun, encapsulating catchy album. Soutaiseiriron’s Hi-Fi Shinsho is arguably the band’s strongest, yet most underrated album as it demonstrates the band’s strongest features which has been praised through their newer albums released in previous years. For any listener of Japanese pop-rock music, new or experienced, Hi-Fi Shinsho is a great album for anyone who is looking to peer their head into Japanese pop-culture music.
